Pretty in pink

If it's pink, you can pretty much bet that it came from the factory with three two barrels. Seems you learn a lot when out photographing cars. Usually the owner knows a lot about the particular model, and often they know much of the history of the car.

One carb or three?

This Olds had a modification that was very common in its day - the outer two carbs were made inoperable. The reason usually given was to save on fuel, since they actually ran fine for most people on just the center carb. Sure this was done on a lot of three-carb cars, but the real reason is because a lot of mechanics didn't want to take the time to properly set up the carbs. Gas mileage is really just as good or better if you have the carbs properly adjusted and, of course, you aren't always mashing your foot down on the accelerator.

1957 Oldsmobile

You're a hot rodder who builds his own cars and your wife needs a dependable car to drive her real estate clients around. Well this pink '57 Olds seems to fit the bill rather well. Four doors, lots of interior space, classic '50s Detroit eye-catching styling with plenty of chrome. And of course the Olds Rocket V8 with three two-barrel carbs has all the horsepower needed for a carload. Gets attention in the church parking lot on Sundays, too.

The pink color is just how this one looked on the showroom floor, but this one has a custom touch with the modern holographic color in the side trim.
